Alex Zink is a 25-year-old musician from Tampa, FL. Mainly in the vein of Pop, he works alongside multiple producers who help him mold the sound to his deep-rooted lyrics. His interest in music was by nature, but crafting it was a voyage. At the age of 16,” he wrote, recorded, and self-produced his first song, ‘The Moon’. Nearly a decade later, his growth as an artist is undeniably apparent. Self-described as “forever blooming,” Alex continues his journey through music and artistic expression.
Interview [September 10th, 2022]
“When I was 16, I had no idea what I was doing. I was basically just throwing darts at the wall. I’m terrible at producing and I really had to branch out to find myself. I used to have this one-man-show mentality like I had to create everything on my own to be authentic. But that’s not what music’s about. Sometimes you just have to find those people who actually get it, like they understand your vision. And it’s an honor to work with such talented musicians, I’m so grateful for them”.
Alex’s upcoming EP has multiple producer credits, including Mantra (Future, Pop Smoke, Dua Lipa) and Treehouse (Juice WRLD, Young Thug, Trippie Redd) – both of who contributed to Zink’s latest single ‘Nobody Knows’.
“Daniel [Mantra] is a force to be reckoned with, and Jeremy [Treehouz] plays guitar so beautifully, I get goosebumps every time. [Treehouz] solely produced the closing track on the EP, and it’s so haunting. I’ve never written something so raw before… I’m really excited for people to hear that one”.

This release marks the end of a several-year-long hiatus (his last track being 2019’s ‘Bleach’), not just from music, but from all social media as well.
“I was a mess. I’ve dealt with depression and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) for the larger part of my life, but 2020 was rock bottom for me. I needed to get rid of all distractions and shut off my surroundings to be able to find myself again. It only made sense for ‘Nobody Knows’ to be the lead single after such radio silence. I needed people to know why I disappeared. It’s absolutely terrifying sharing something so personal, but I think it’s amazing that we live in a world now where mental illness is being openly discussed. It’s not a taboo anymore; I don’t feel ashamed of it”.
The lyrics to the track read dark, clearly derived from emotional pain and inner turmoil. Sonically, however, it stays upbeat with an insanely catchy chorus. The contrast between the two themes is an interesting take, yet flows so effortlessly together.
“My new EP strays from my usual sound. ‘Nobody Knows’ is actually the most pop-based track on it. I’m moving into a new direction that I’m really excited about. It feels like I’ve finally found my natural sound. Nothing about these 6 songs feels forced or contrived to me, which I’ve never truly felt before”.
Alex Zink’s upcoming EP, ‘AMIDST THE CHAOS’, is scheduled for release in early 2023.
